Unraveling Ancestral Tapestry: A Personal iGENEA DNA Test Reveals The History Of Renfro

Family name Renfro

Nestled within the data from my iGENEA DNA test, lies the rich narrative of my surname, Renfro. My genetic markers bring tales of prehistoric migration, intermarriage across geographic borders and vivid survival. Stemming predominantly from Western Europe, with strong leanings towards France and Spain, my ancestry also features surprising Scandinavian and Eastern European elements.

Following my recent iGENEA DNA test, I observed some compelling findings that revolve around my surname, Renfro. The genetic markers associated with my DNA revealed a rich history stretching back thousands of years, recollecting tales of migration, survival, and adaptation.

The scientific analysis revealed my deep ancestry roots in Western Europe, specifically areas of present-day France and Spain. This connection indicates that my ancestors were likely a part of the prehistoric migration trend in these regions.

Mapping of Renfro's Y-chromosome revealed the haplogroup R1b, which is highly common amongst those of Western European descent. This further supports the idea of my deep ancestral linkages to this particular geography. Furthermore, the analysis of specific markers within the R1b haplogroup suggests a probable connection to the historic Franco-Cantabrian refuge - a region that served as a safe haven during the Ice Age.

Besides, the test unveiled a significant amount of Scandinavian DNA in my genetic makeup. This suggests that ancestors bearing the Renfro surname possibly intermingled with Vikings or other Nordic tribes - a remarkable historical narrative!

The autosomal DNA test interestingly revealed a trace of Eastern European DNA, hinting at a complex history of migration and intermarriage well beyond the traditional geographic lines drawn around the Renfro lineage.

Lastly, my mitochondrial DNA, which is passed down the maternal line, represents haplogroup H. This is frequently found in Western Europe, supporting the idea of a mainly European ancestry.

E. Renfro
