Tracing My Lucero Ancestry: A Journey Through Genetics
Family name Lucero
Discovering heritage can be a surprise like it was in my case. My DNA test with iGENEA not only validated my family's oral history but reshaped it, revealing hidden branches in my ancestral tree, and unveiling my deep-rooted connection with my Lucero ancestors.
My voyage into the world of genetic ancestry testing with iGENEA left a considerable impact on my understanding of my heritage. The unexpected ancestral strains and the unraveled stories have etn me to the roots of the Lucero lineage, completely altering my personal narrative. Not only did it enshrine some of my family's oral histories but it furthered my appreciation for my predecessors' struggles, values, and triumphs.
Through the test, I learned that my Lucero ancestors were originally Sephardic Jews from the Iberian Peninsula, who had migrated westward due to turmoil in the region in the 15th century. The awareness that my ancestors were part of a diaspora population, known for their resolve and resilience, struck an inexplicable chord within me.
Additionally, the test divulged my ancestors’ presence in South America as early as the 16th century. I had always held a vague understanding of my South American lineage but the iGENEA findings solidified these narratives, and further amplified my sense of belonging to this region.
Intriguingly, the testing unveiled a significant percentage of Native American ancestry within my genetic makeup–a revelation that was previously never passed down through my family stories. This insight has driven me to delve further into the histories, customs, and traditions of the indigenous populations of South America.
The whole endeavor of tracing my Lucero lineage through DNA testing has been enlightening–deep down, I feel more connected to my Lucero ancestors and to the world at large. The revelations served as a poignant reminder of how we are all, regardless of contemporary divisions, truly bound by an intricate tapestry of human struggle, migration, and endurance over centuries.
